A Pond Can Be A Great Addition To Your Yard.
Yes I said it. Do not put a pool in, put a pond in! Hear me out on this. How often do you really use a swimming pool? Especially in Ct/New England where it’s cold and snowy as early as October (Yes it snowed this weekend)! A well built pond is enjoyable all year long. The great thing about a pond is that it is not something you want to fill in when the kids move out, actually it can be even more enjoyable and comforting at that point.
Benefits of a backyard pond
- They bring nature into your yard. Birds especially flock to areas with water.
- Aesthetic beauty. There is nothing like seeing a water fall out of your window.
- Relaxation. The sound of flowing water is one of the most soothing things in the world. With the window open I can fall asleep to this sound in the bedroom. You have no idea how relaxing it is.
- A well built pond adds resale value to your home.
- Koi or Pond fish. Feeding and watching your fish is one of the most enjoyable pond experiences.
My pond has been in since later summer and I enjoy it everyday. It is something to consider as Winter approaches. Now is the time to begin thinking of where/if you can put a pond in your yard.
Below is my pond after the October Nor’easter a few days ago. When I walked over I scared the birds away but they were attacking the feeders non-stop before this.
Plantsman & Co helped me with my pond. Check them out if you like it.
